About me

I was born in a tiny place named Andersby in Finnmark, near Vadsø, Čáhcesuolu, in the far north of Norway. As a six year old I moved to Valdres where I grew up. In Valdres I came to learn the traditional music of the Hardanger fiddle. The musical path went through the Norwegian academy of music where I have a bachelor and masters degree in folk music. Altough I am highly specialized in the world of «slåttar», the Hardanger fiddle music, my artistic interest also includes art music, improvised music, scenic projects, as well as writing, dancing and giving lectures.

I feel privileged that I have had the opportunity to learn from a huge range of dedicated human beings, fantastic performers, teachers and thinkers, such as: Anne Hytta, Gjertrud Pedersen, Ingfrid Breie Nyhus, Henrik Hellstenius, Unni Løvlid, Terje Moe Hansen, Guillermo Rizzotto, Per Anders Buen Garnås, Vegar Vårdal, Jan Beitohaugen Granli and many more.

Trying to understand music and express my impressions of the world is a difficult and everlasting task. My wish is that I can contribute with more warmth to the world, and more understanding of the musical sphere of the hardanger fiddle.
